Intervention Student Data Export

BrightBytes, February 2017

Project: module within the Clarity web platform

Contributions: site architecture, layout design, wireframing, user interface design, visual design

Team: UX design (me), interface design (me + 1), product management (1), development (5)

Results: first instance of exportable student data from the Intervention module; upon relaunch, the module earned the Best in Show award at ISTE

“The Intervention module streamlines the referral process by connecting students in need to the right support services. The module allows educators to quickly assign services, track the fidelity, frequency, and efficacy of those efforts, and easily review and communicate progress or adjustment needs with stakeholders.” (Source)

A downloadable report of all of a student’s Intervention data -- the idea seemed a simple request, and the need was obvious for districts whose use of Intervention might include parents, teachers, or other administrators not using the module. The project to design this report came at a challenging time: when the team was planning for an overhaul of the architecture of Intervention. Yet, the student data report had to take priority due to the business need of satisfying clients pushing for its delivery, and thus, I started my designs from a place of taking the building blocks I knew would withstand the architectural changes and retain relevance. I ended up carrying the designs from early research -- concept activities and sitemaps -- and wireframes all the way through to layout, visual, and UI design. The final UI touches were made by our VP of Design. Just before development began, I coordinated efforts of our client success team’s review and feedback, incorporating small suggestions where needed.
